DENVER FILM ANNOUNCES CINEMAQ FILM FESTIVAL LINEUP Celebrating the best in LGBTQ+ programming from around the world

Denver Film has announced the dates for its Annual CinemaQ Film Festival. The Festival kicks-off August 26 and runs through August 29 and will be accessible through use of Denver Film’s Virtual Cinema platform available to screen at www.denverfilm.org and by downloading the Denver Film app for Roku TV or Apple TV.

The August 26 Opening Night kicks off with a special in-person and virtual screening of the film, MY NAME IS PAULI MURRAY, a film about the life and ideas of Pauli Murray, a non-binary Black lawyer, activist and poet who influenced both Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Thurgood Marshall.

“We’re beyond thrilled to present a fresh new slate of the best LGBTQ+ films for this year’s CinemaQ Film Fest, and come together, virtually, to share in the stories, voices, and viewpoints of our community once again,” said Denver Film’s Sie FilmCenter Artistic Director, Keith Garcia. “With fresh documentaries about fascinating pioneers (MY NAME IS PAULI MURRAY, BUILDING A BRIDGE, REBEL DYKES, NO STRAIGHT LINES, RAW! UNCUT! VIDEO!) to stirring narratives of queer lives in motion (SEE YOU THEN, MY BEST PART, JUMP, DARLING) to the recent rediscovery of lost pieces of our cinema, restored and back for the world to see (THE LEATHER BOYS, THE FILMS OF THE GAY GIRLS RIDING CLUB), this year’s CinemaQ has something new to explore for every member and ally of our burgeoning community.”

Founded in 2009, the CinemaQ Film Festival was created to leverage the power of film to celebrate queer voices, queer visions, and queer visibility. The four-day film festival is designed to bring the best in LGBTQ+ programming from around the world to Colorado audiences. The festival will feature virtual Q&As, panel discussions, and conversations with filmmakers and the Colorado community.

Full festival passes are $55 for Denver Film Members/$65 Non-Member and individual film tickets are $12 for Denver Film Members/$15 Non-Member. Individual tickets are currently on sale and full festival passes are available at denverfilm.org

The CinemaQ Film Festival lineup was previewed during Denver Film’s June 27 Pride Hub at the Sie FilmCenter, in partnership with The Center. The Pride Hub, attended by more than 1,000 guests, featured seven drag performances, an outdoor bar, food trucks, exhibitors, a beer tasting with Ratio Brewery, and sampling from Vizzy Hard Seltzer and GT’s Kombucha.
